The Perfect X-mas dress

Christmas and New Year’s Eve are coming very soon, so the worries of finding the perfect outfit are already here.

Meanwhile: Christmas work parties, Christmas lunch with friends, Christmas dinner with family – we are all very busy but we can’t forget to dress nicely for these special occasions! Fortunately, the weekend is coming soon so we can go shopping and find “the” dress we need.

If I can help you with some fashion hints, I would recommend the top 3 party materials of this winter: Sequined, Baroque and Velvet…

I personally adore sequined dresses. If you want to be the centre of attention, they are  definitely the right ones for you! They are so funny, shiny and perfect for a big party!

I would choose a black one with a low back. Although it’s sequined, black color cools it down a bit.

However, if you’re looking for more glitter factor, you have to get this silver dress!!

The other trend of this season is baroque. We´ve seen it in Dolce&Gabanna’s fashion show and campaign – they are definitely the kings of this trend.

I would die for this one but it’s too expensive…

..So I had to find cheaper version in Lipsy. Of course it’s not as delicate as D&G but I like the way it structures the body. It emphasizes a very feminine waist and a lovely nude neck.

However let’s not forget the velvet material. It works really well for Christmas since it’s very warm, cozy, but very elegant too!

This dress from Alexander Mc Queen is delightful!

What about mixing some baroque detail with velvet?

You will see that it’s very easy to find affordable trendy dresses for the best celebrations!

Now I leave you in a “Christmassy” atmosphere with the first Topshop movie starring Kate Bosworth. Check out her sparkly dress! ;)

Have a great weekend!!

The Repetto Wardrobe

For those who might not know, Repetto is an old and well respected French brand. They initially specialized in ballet products, but through the years they have extended their range of products. I’m an admirer of Repetto  because of their impressive knowledge of the dance industry, the quality of the products and the longevity of the brand. They have been in the business for over 65 years. Their Catchphrase is “A promise of a unique grace and lightness” and I simply love how it describes the whole atmosphere of the brand.

My favorite item of Repetto is their classic “ballerines” (ballet flat shoes). Interestingly, they became famous when French actress Brigitte Bardot asked Repetto to create them for a movie in 1956. After that they were called Cinderella Ballerinas.

They are so simple and cute, you just want them in different colors and leather types!

Ballerinas are popular not only among female high street customers but also among celebrities. Every women will find at least one pair of ballerinas in their shoe collection. They come in different colors and fabrics, but if you want them to last for a long time and feel like a French ballerina, I suggest Repetto.

Now guess what… on Wednesday, Repetto launched their first ready to wear clothes line! 18 pieces of grace and simplicity – just for us! It is such a clever idea, I love how they combine ballet dancing clothes with everyday pieces for everyday life.

I have picked my three favorites from the collection.

I like the tutu look-a-like in this one

The open back of that one is also adorable.

The color of the top together with the transparent skirt just makes an outfit!

There are two things I am passionate about – dance and fashion, and I am really happy that one of my favorite brands has had the idea of creating a wardrobe for everyone, not just dancers. So check out the collection!

La Marinière (aka the blue and white striped T-shirt)

La marinière was a uniform for sailors and fish men in Brittany until Coco Chanel decided to make it à la mode, in Deauville. The navy look became a stamp for summer holidays.

It is now an essential item and a “oh so big French cliché” but let’s see how it stayed fashionable through the years and how we can wear it today.

In the 80’s famous designer Jean Paul Gaultier created a collection using the striped T-shirt on men. Since then the marinière is the JPG trademark. The pattern stretched beyond T-shirts and is now used on many holiday accessories, such as bikini, sunglasses, shoes, bags etc.

I don’t know anyone who hasn’t got a marinière in their wardrobe, to me it goes with everything and it is so easy to wear. You don’t need to be a fashion goddess to figure out what goes with it and that’s why this piece of clothing is perfect!

Personally, I like a marinière to be a bit loose, I would even take it a size bigger. I had a crush on this Sandro one but you can find more classic and cheaper marinière’s on Petitbateau website.

A lot of celebrities are often snapped wearing the classic stripe T-shirt but the “it” girl Alex Chung knows how to wear it the best – I’ve seen various photos of her wearing it with different outfits.  I  like this one also because of her flashy nail polish.

I really like the idea of a bright colour combined with a marinière, like red shoes or a red coat with maybe a touch of leopard which also adds a French note.

However, I also like to wear it with kaki Parka and I absolutely adore this one from Zadig Et Voltaire.

So whether you are off on holiday, hitting the shops or having drinks with the girls – you can style your marinière for any occasion. It really is a wardrobe must!

I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Leather VS Fur – Winter 2012/2013 Trends

Winter is coming and it’s getting colder, but with some creative ideas you can keep it warm and be stylish this season!

I have seen it on the runway as well as in the high street shops; leather and fur are the essentials for our winter wardrobe. They might seem dominant but we can make it look classy. Easy to wear, they will definitely keep you cosy and up to date.

On the Runway a full leather outfit at the Hermes, Yves Saint Laurent and Givenchy fashion shows.

Although it creates an amazing silhouette, I prefer just a touch of leather much more. It still gives the similar effect of a bold look, but in a gentle way.

Calvin Klein and Celine are my choices!

Colored leather is also big this season. I recommend “Comptoir des Cotonniers” a French brand with some nice and affordable pieces. Just like the golden skirt, presented in a discreet and classy way.

Fur is another winter “must have item”. A lot of fashion designers presented them in a funky way.

When it comes to everyday style, I tend to use fur as an accessory. A fur collar for example dresses your neck in a very sophisticated way.

You can find plenty of these for affordable prices on the high street. Topshop offers a range of colors in various shades.

Of course you don’t have to choose between leather and fur; you can combine these two and create a great up to date outfit! Look what Kate Moss came up with!!! I love it!

I can’t wait to share some more fashion news with you next week. Until then, have a fabulous weekend!

Au revoir!
