HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Today is Halloween! Although this holiday has its origin in the US, it is also quite a big deal here in Sweden. I suppose much bigger than in Germany.

One of the reasons could be that kids here don’t have any other occasion, holiday or season when they can dress up. Carnival or German “Fasching” don’t exist in Sweden. The simple fact that sweets are involved in the Trick or Treat might be another explanation. Swedes – no matter if big or small – love sweets:) Imagine that every single supermarket has its own candy-bar!

My first daughter is 3,5 years now and this Halloween is the first one that she is really aware of. She wants to celebrate it and dress up. Today she will have a dress-up party in the Kindergarten, so we bought a witch costume and pumpkins. All of this is quite new to me – I was never so into Halloween. However, as soon as you have kids, such holidays get much more important.

For me a whole new world of decoration opens up, yet another reason to decorate the house.

When I was browsing the net, I found these two ideas that I’ll definitely keep in mind for the next year. There is so much more than just pumpkins :-)

Have a great Halloween and rest of the week,

Back from the Sun

It has been a week without any news from Sweden because I´ve been on vacation with my family. We had a wonderful time on Tenerife enjoying the sunny time together.

Now we are “back to daily business” and our hectic working schedules.

Today I would like to present you one of my all-time favorite Swedish brands. It was also one of the first ones that I discovered when I moved to Sweden. It’s WHYRED, a contemporary, yet classic label in the Swedish design world.

It was founded in 1999 and ever since has been growing and earning design prices in Scandinavia.

WHYRED has a timeless design and basic pieces of a great quality. I adore their shoes! In every new collection there is at least one pair that I would love to own.

As no other brand WHYRED represents a special part of Stockholm – Södermalm: Indie but Classic, Chic but edgy and yet timeless.

Check out their website for more info about the brand and their online store. Important hint: they ship they products international:)

Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the current collection.

Have a great week everyone!

My home

Today I would like to take you for another tour around my place. The  livingroom and dining area, to be exact.

We recently replaced our Eames chairs at the dinner table with the Y-chairs from Hans Wegner. Wow, what a difference! The new ones are so much more comfortable.

Of course, after we changed the chairs, we felt that also the table didn´t fit any more. We spent quite some time searching for a substitute. We found The One simply by mistake. After all, life is about taking the chances:)

By the way, when i write „we“, I mean me and my husband. He has just a little to say, but therefore more to pay ;-) Luckily we both like it that way !

For now, I am quite pleased with the livingroom-dining area. Let´s see how long it stays that way.

Have a great week everyone.

Ready for autumn

Today I finally had a few minutes to take some pictures of my outfits. However, It is quite difficult to find time during everyday life to take good ones. I am neither a model nor a photographer – I am just a mum with a very big love for fashion and all things that are beautiful.

Well, I hope you can forgive me the quality of the pics and focus only on the style: my two favorite autumn looks.

If you remember my wish list from the earlier posts, you may notice that quite a few pieces already found their way to my wardrobe. I do have a very nice husband and I love to treat myself.

The cardigan is from the Missoni for Lindex collection and it became my real favorite in the last week.

Another great and universal piece is my new black leather jacket. It is one of the “classics” and in my opinion you can never have too many of them. Mine is by The Wardrobe – a brand that I just recently discovered. When it´s chilly, I match the jacket with my black faux-fur vest. At the moment it is still too warm for that combo, though.

I know that my shoes are not really visible in the pictures, but both pairs are new and will get me through the whole season. Black and cognac brown are perfect to match with almost everything. I promise to improve the next pics so you can actually see the shoes :)

Having a cup of tea now and watching the Swedish X-Factor. Another big plus during autumn is that the TV channels are showing the best shows.

Have a great week everyone.

Love from Stockholm,

Tilla
