Charming greetings from the north!

Hi there!
This week I would like to present a very nice store that I was visiting last week in the north of Germany – to be exact: in Buxtehude near Hamburg.
‚Wolf & Wolf‘ combines the latest fashion trends with old and modern pieces of furniture.
It gives you a sense of ‚here is where I want to shop and live‘ – clothing, jewelry, handbags and every now and then a renovated old piece of furniture. And it all spread on three floors.
Just fashion and furniture blended in a perfect harmony!

Of course it was the partly antique furniture that caught my eye!
So, let me show you some of the really nice things that I saw there:

Right at the entrance there was this amazing cash-counter, which was once an old table.

They just put some new black and white paint on it and now it beams at you as soon as you enter the store!
On the platform between the ground floor and the first floor you can find this beautiful old sofa in a real good condition – they just put some new fabric  on it.
And what do you think about this huge chandelier? Isn’t it great?! They snatched this beauty from the liquidation of an old apartment.
Check out this cute seating spot….I totally fell in love with it when I saw it! And by the way – this is the place where man can enjoy a cup of coffee if it might take his shopaholic wife a little longer again. ;)
On the second floor you run directly into a oriental corner, which gives a very harmonic atmosphere to the whole room.
Last, but not least I would like to show you my very favorite piece: an old drop-light from India, with dark-blue stones all over it!
You just need a strong ceiling to get this highlight in your home!
Have a nice week and sunshine – at least in your hearts! ;)

Happy new year to all of you!

I hope you had a great New Year´s Eve party – with loud and colorful fireworks!

Mine was fantastic! It was a great start of 2013. Only the weather could have been a bit nicer.
Since it´s not really cold outside, but still very grey and rainy, I would like to start my first post in 2013 with some warm inspirations for all of us here at Stylekompass…
There is a big reason to love winter season – fireplace at home!  Even if you don’t have a house you can be homelike and comfortably equipped with a decorative woodfire in your apartment – without a chimney!  As much as we appreciate a central heating these days – we all are longing for the coziness of some rising flames.

Let me show you my favorites!

Christmas table decoration

Just a few days left until we will get together with our beloved ones for Christmas.
It’s high time to think about a nice decoration for the dinner table. Let me help you to set the perfect arrangement for your holiday and check out my tips for decorations with greenery, candles, silver, lovely place cards….and whatever you can think of!

First of all I would like to show you my Christmas dinner table decoration from last year. Just to show that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get an elegant Christmas dinner decor.

My last year’s table-theme was ‚brown and golden‘. First of all I put a brown velvet tablecloth on the table and then a table runner right in the middle. I also spread some fir branches on the runner and put nice deco elements on and around it.

Everything in brown and golden is welcome. For example, some nice cones, dried orange slices or cinnamon sticks, which will also bring a nice Christmas flavour to the table. You can also put some golden spray on the cones to make them a bit sparkly. Of course, we need some candle light for the Christmas dinner, so don’t forget about it! Last but not least, I put some cinnamon cookies on the plates that I was baking the night before. They were perfectly working as a place for cards…I just put a nice satin ribbon on the little cookie-bags to fix the name-cards of the guests.

However this is only one of a thousand possibilities to glamour up your Christmas table.
So let me give you some more inspirations.

This decoration gives a cheerful ambience rich in Christmas tradition.

I hope these suggestions will help you a bit to find your own way for Christmas table decoration! However, don’t forget….in the end it’s all about getting together and having a nice time!

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a very happy and healthy new year!

I will be back in 2013 with some new ideas and suggestions for you!

Love!
