Quinoa – Gold of the Incas

Quinoa…..is one of the best sources of protein and actually a seed but can be prepared like whole grains such as rice – cooking time is usually 10-15 minutes. It is gluten-free and low-fat and can be used with most meals including breakfast. It can aid in lowering cholesterol, is a great source of Iron, Magnesium and Calcium. The fibre content is exceptional including 9 essential amino acids, which is extremely beneficial to everyone especially vegetarians and vegans.

Here is one of my favorite recipes :

Firstly you need to prepare the quinoa: choose the amount in a pan, cover with water or vegetable broth and boil until soft – usually around 15 mintues, sieve and leave to cool.Chop up one banana, add some pumpkin seeds, dried cranberries and coconut oil into a saucepan and heat medium to low. After add some almond milk and the previously prepared Quinoa. You can add your favorite nuts, cinnamon, vanilla extract and coconut flakes and stir for a couple of minutes. Just before taking off the heat add some hemp or chia seeds.

What we put on our plate is just as important as what we use on our face!

Here are some of the best ‚healthy skin‘ foods and drinks for daily use.

Drink green tea – it’s an excellent antioxidant and the benefits are well documented
2 litres of water Blueberries, broccoli, purple kale, figs, purple grapes and red wine…boost collagen
Green juice or a smoothie
Nuts, seeds, Avocados – plenty of omega – fats
Salad of 5 different colored raw vegetables
Humus
Coconut – Fruit, Water and Milk ( Oil for skin & hair )
Omega and antioxidant supplements
Green barley grass juice
Aloe vera juice

Stop fat-free diet! Change the type of fat you have. Eat plenty of omega fats which can be found in seeds and avocado.
Green leafy vegetables provide beta-carotene, the precursor to vitamin A and also aid for collagen production.

Healthy skin green juice made by yourself in the mixer!

250 ml coconut water
100 gr berries
1/2 avocado
1 tablespoon coconut oil
A handful of spinach leaves
A tablespoon of green powder ( barley grass )
1/2 – 1 lime

How safe are your cosmetics?

A quick guide to what should and what should not be on your cosmetics & beauty shelf.

I imagine most people aren’t aware of what exactly is in the products they are using on a daily basis. It is important to find that out and avoid ingredients that may cause irritation and allergies. Even after using a product for many years your skin can react to it without you realizing that the ingredients could be the problem. Some ‚natural‘ products can also cause an allergic reaction.

Here are some of the ingredients that you should avoid:

Preservatives: Benzoic acid, Methylparaben, Ethylbaraben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben and many more.

Mineral oils: Mineral oil, Petrolatum (vaseline), Paraffinum-liquidum, Paraffinum Subliquidum, Cera Mocrocristallina, Microcrystaline wax, Ozokerit, Ceresin

Ingredients derived from dead animals.

Perfumes, fragrances and ethereal oils.

If in doubt stop using the product and find an alternative. Here are some suggestions
