Besides furniture you can also get amazing second hand art. It’s just a paradise for everybody who loves to browse through relicts of bygone times.Underneath you can find a small collection of the pieces that are currently available in the shop.

The ‚Modern design junkies‘ shop close to Kollwitzplatz in Berlin.

The dining table from Piet Hein Eek is made of old scrapwood and was already exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art in New York as well as at the Furniture Fair in Italy/Milan and at Cïbone in Tokyo.

Recently there’s an extra fresh breeze blowing at St. Peter-Ording. A new beach hotel opened up this year directly at the dike.

It consists of three buildings and is dedicated to all those who have the desire for a „different“ hotel experience.

Everyone who likes to be still spoiled even after a great and sunny day at the beach can choose between 104 wonderful rooms and suites – all individually designed.

Whether you are a sports freak or a design friend, the Beach Motel is ideal for all that just want to relax in a lovely atmosphere with a nordic note.

He designs durable products that are truly unique and timeless beautiful.
All products incorporate handmade elements and materials like cork, concrete, terracotta,
felt, leather, wood, porcelain, cast iron and stainless steel.

Wooden benches

These benches are designed for in- and outdoors.
They are made of Solid American Ashand. The legs are hand-made and produced with the use of Cast Iron.

The lamp is made of cork, which allows notes to be pinned to it. As if the simple lamp isn’t gorgeous enough on its own, the pins create tiny holes in the cork every time a memo goes up. These holes make a unique pattern in the cork for the light to shine through.

It has been voted as one of the 7 most charming and stylish hotels under 100 euro in Germany and has an outstanding design affordable to all!

It opened up in February 2009 and already got numerous awards- for example the Design price „Red Dot Award” in the „Architecture and Interior Design” category.

The first second I got there I recognized the Pop-Art-style, which immediately reminded me of the ‚nhow hotel‘ in Berlin.

And…surprise, surprise: after asking the friendly woman behind the reception desk I got to know what I was already suspecting! The modern hallmark is the same! It’s the one of the world renowned Karim Rashid!

Normally, to be honest – I prefer darker colors and warm materials! But the Prizeotel with its 127 fully air-conditioned rooms still serves exactly the needs of cost-effective business and city travelers.

So if you are not afraid of colors but you love details, like an ilamp with integrated speakers and an iphone connection, you should definitely check out this amazing place with the large open and white spaces and the accents of strong positive colors!

The lobby area encompasses a bar, internet station, buffet and outdoor terrace.

Upstairs, the tactile wallpaper coats the hallway. Custom carpets along the corridors display room numbers.

The rooms were designed following the guiding ‚have less but better furniture‘. They provide all the needs and details of a high end boutique hotel while creating a unique experience and a high level of sleeping comfort!

It also has high quality bathrooms with rainforest shower heads.

The Prizehotel is a perfect hotel for individualist who are feeling home wherever they are able to take their smartphones and their trolley bags – and who are bored with traditional hotels!

Henri is a welcoming hotel for cosmopolitan and unconventional guests. It’s not just another hotel with a commodity design! There are 65 cool and retro styled studios, suites and loft suites waiting for you! You simply have to be impressed:  dark wooden floors, cozy sofas, handmade carpets, custom made furniture and accessories. The rooms are also partly equipped with kitchen units!

You can even find an individual ‚HENRI wallpaper‘ on the walls: triangle tables and nostalgia phones that are giving a living room an atmosphere of the 50’s!

The meeting point at the hotel is „The Abendbrod!“.  Here you can meet with other hotel guests, have breakfast or just a bedtime-snack.

The funny thing about it: the guests can get it themselves out of the retro-fridge in the open kitchen. For example prepared soups or salads are waiting for you! And every weekend they will surprise you with different cakes and a good coffee.

But no worries- you can run off these pounds again! At the gym downstairs!

There’s also a very nice wellness area on the upper floor – including a view over the rooftops of my beautiful Hamburg.

The old wood of this washing basin is protected by a custom blended wax. You can still see the typical oak barrel that was once used for a wine maturation.

Of course it was the partly antique furniture that caught my eye!
So, let me show you some of the really nice things that I saw there:

Right at the entrance there was this amazing cash-counter, which was once an old table.

They just put some new black and white paint on it and now it beams at you as soon as you enter the store!
On the platform between the ground floor and the first floor you can find this beautiful old sofa in a real good condition – they just put some new fabric  on it.
And what do you think about this huge chandelier? Isn’t it great?! They snatched this beauty from the liquidation of an old apartment.
Check out this cute seating spot….I totally fell in love with it when I saw it! And by the way – this is the place where man can enjoy a cup of coffee if it might take his shopaholic wife a little longer again.
On the second floor you run directly into a oriental corner, which gives a very harmonic atmosphere to the whole room.
Last, but not least I would like to show you my very favorite piece: an old drop-light from India, with dark-blue stones all over it!
You just need a strong ceiling to get this highlight in your home!
